The birthday of UEC-Perm Engines (a part of Rostec United Engine Corporation) is considered to be June 1, 1934, when a mass production of M-25 engines began. For nine decades, the plant has added many heroic pages in history the history of domestic aviation, made a great contribution to development in the fuel and energy sector of modern Russia.
During the Great Patriotic War, the plant became the leading manufacturer of Ash-82FN aircraft engine that motored La-5 and La-7 fighter aircrafts, Su-2, Tu-2, Pe-8 bombers. These aircrafts has made a legendary contribution to the Great Victory. In 1959, Perm engine manufacturers began serial production of the first domestic D-20P bypass aircraft engines for Tu-124 aircraft. World's first helicopter D-25V gas turbine engine for Mi-6 and Mi-10/10K, Tu-134 D-30 engines, IL-62M D-30KU, Tu-154M D-30KU-154, engines for MiG-31 and M-55 “Geophysika” are glorious pages in the history of national aviation, which were written by the Perm Engine Factory. In challenging times for the country, the plant provided the PS-90A fourth-generation engine for IL-96-300/400T, Tu-204/214, IL-76TD/MD-90/A and others aircrafts. Under economic troubles, the plant restructured production and started manufacturing gas turbine units for power plants and gas compressor units.
Today the plant has launched serial production of PD-14, a new generation aircraft engines for middle range MS-21-310 aircraft, manufacture of parts and assemblies for PD-35 technology demo-engine, continues production of industrial engines in favour of PAO “Gazprom”, PAO “LUKOIL”, PAO NK “Rosneft”, OAO “Surgutneftegaz”, PAO “NOVATEK” and other customers. Over thirty years, the total running time of the Perm GTU fleet has exceeded 43 million hours.
More than twenty investment projects for the development of production capacities are being implemented at the company. The project objective is to boost the growth of aircraft engine production volumes in the period through to 2030 to ensure Russian technological sovereignty in the aircraft engine industry.
“The history of the plant is to be continued, and we have something to celebrate the glorious date. Since the beginning of serial production we have produced 541 PS-90As. The plant has manufactured and delivered to customers 1276 gas turbine units rated 2.5-25 MW. The plant has new frontiers and large-scale projects into the future. We know that our products, our labor, invaluable experience and new ideas are in demand for Russia!” noted Executive Director of UEC-Perm Engines Sergey Kharin.
“Today, the company faces an ambitious target: to increase significantly the aircraft engine production, while maintaining the level of production of power units for industrial purposes, to master cutting-edge technologies for the advanced products manufacture. Perm engine manufacturers have proved time and again that they are capable to supply the country with the best engines and will certainly cope with any challenges in the future,” said in his congratulations UEC General Director Vadim Badekha.
