“Go ahead to your success!” – this was the motto of the 4th regional professional skills competition “Best in Profession” among young workers. And the most successful were the representatives of Perm Engines Research&Production Complex (UEC-Perm Engines and UEC-Aviadvigatel, a part of the Rostec United Engine Corporation).

This year 105 experts from 17 enterprises of Perm krai competed for the title of the best in their profession in seven categories. The competition was held at B.G. Izgagin Perm Technical School of Industrial and Information Technologies. Winners and awardees were decided by the results of theoretical and practical stages.

Employees of UEC-PM production factory gained two first places, two second places and two third places.

The winners are Ekaterina Menshikova, an Assembly Shop Inspector, who won in the Machine Tool and Metalwork Inspector Category, as well as Pavel Adigashov, a CNC Machine Operator of the Mechanical Shop, who gained his prize in the CNC Machine Operator Category (milling work).

“I took part in the competition to test my knowledge. And I also had a great desire to win, because I had come second several times before in professional skills competitions,” says Ekaterina. “In addition, such competitions are always interesting because each time they are held in a new way, the tasks and details are different.”

The second place in the category of “CNC machine operator (turning works)” was won by the Machine and Manipulator Setup Man of the Mechanical Shop Artem Vorobyev, and in the category “Production Line Supervisor” by a Packaging and Shipping Shop Foreman Elvira Goldyreva.

The bronze winners are Vitaly Budur, a Lathe Operator at the Aircraft and Industrial Engine Repair Shop (in the “Machine Tool Operator (Metalworking)” Category), and Victoria Sluzhenkova, a Senior Inspector Foreman at the Mechanical Assembly Shop (in the “Instructor” Category).

In addition, a diploma for workmanship was awarded to Aleksey Fominykh, a Computer-Controlled Machine Operator of the Mechanical & Welding Shop.

Employees of the UEC-Aviadvigatel Pilot Production Plant were remarkable in the “Machine Tool Operator (Metalworking)” Category. Turner in the Machine Shop for large parts Aleksandr Polyakov became the winner, and his colleague from the Mechanical Shop of Compressor & Turbine Blades Sergey Kotegov was awarded a diploma for excellence.

Aleksandr joined UEC-Aviadvigatel four years ago, but his total experience as a turner on different machines is 10 years. Aleksadr is convinced, it is the experience gained in his profession that helped him become the best one.

“I wanted to test my skills and abilities. As things turned out, I can do even more than I expected. I will continue to participate in professional skill competitions, since to keep advancing, you have to constantly prove to yourself that you can do even more”, he says.

The purpose of the Best in Profession competition is to improve the status of the on-fire trade jobs, and to attract young people for training and employment in worker occupations.

“The competition was held in a friendly way. The participants have made every effort to show their professional skills and achieve the best result. Believe me upon my words, this will be useful to you in your life. The one who tries, who does not give up and goes ahead, he will achieve a lot and succeed”, noted Sergey Kharin, an Executive Director of UEC-PM, while addressing the participants at the awarding ceremony.
