UEC-Aviadvigatel (a part of the Rostec United Engine Corporation) has obtained a Major Change Approval for the PD-14 aircraft engine from the Federal Air Transport Agency. This milestone event took place on December 25, 2024.
The change is to remove operational limitations on the engine operation under icing conditions at ambient air temperatures below minus 100С.
The document certifies the operability of the PD-14 type design without limitations under icing conditions in accordance with the requirements of the Certification Basis (AP-33).
PD-14, the first new-generation turbofan aero-engine created in modern Russia, is designed to motorize MS-21-310. The engine was certified in 2018. MS-21-310 with PD-14s flew for the first time in December 2020, and it was certified in December 2022. Additional certification flight tests of MS-21-310 are being currently conducted with PD-14 derivative propulsion system.
