UEC-Perm Engines (a part of the Rostec’s United Engine Corporation) awarded the best employees for submitting proposals to improve the company’s operations in 2024.
Over the past year, 5834 improvement proposals were received from the staff. The most active innovative workers were awarded Certificates of Appreciation. These are a Production Line Supervisor of the Non-ferrous Foundry Aleksandr Kornienko, a Process Technician of the Tool Shop Ekaterina Philippova, and a Senior Foreman of the Heating Furnace Line of the Thermal Shop Oleg Saraev.
The following specialists has been awarded for involving employees in improving the company’s operations: a Leading Specialist of the Development Metallurgical Shop Anastasiya Bushueva, Process Engineer of the Forging & Mechanical Shop Vladislav Krause, as well as the Heads of Departments, i.e. Senior Deputy Chief Metallurgist, Head of Development Metallurgical Shop Ilya Romanov, Head of the Test Station Ruslan Zigangirov, and Head of the Forging & Mechanical Shop Aleksey Kudymov.
Ekaterina Philippova has been working in the Tool Shop since 2012. In June 2024, she moved to the position of a Process Technician of the Measuring Tool Bureau, and immediately became involved in improvement activities.
“I am responsible for the fixture engineering. Every day we develop a new device, a new fixture, a new reference and see what and how we can do better,” Ekaterina says. “My proposals are primarily aimed at changing the grade of material to make the manufacturing process cheaper and faster.”
One of her proposals included a fixture design modification, which used to consist of two workpieces and to be attached with screws. To reduce labor costs, Ekaterina has proposed to produce the fixture from a single workpiece with no assembly, no unnecessary grinding, and no attachment screws.
Perm engine-makers also bring in efficiency proposals. At the end of the year 2024, the greatest economic effect was brought about by the joint initiative of the Leading Expert Processman of the Mechanical & Welding Shop Nataliya Kotegova, Leading Process Engineer of the Mechanical & Welding Shop Anna Karandashova, Deputy Chief Welder for Repairs Aleksey Metelev, Deputy Chief Welder Vladimir Batrakov.
“As a result of the improvement proposals implementation, the working environment gets more comfortable for the UEC-PM staff. Individual improvements may be small, but together they lead to improved process efficiency and workforce productivity. It is important that innovators are recognized and rewarded for their ideas, and that the economic effect from the proposal implementation was over 13 million rubles in 2024,” explains Andrey Ushakov, Director of Production System Development at UEC-PM.
