This year, 38 teams, which is more than 700 engine manufacturers, competed for sporting and creative victories. The traditional sports festival “Health Day” is organized annually by JSC “UEC-Perm Engines” (part of Rostec United Engine Corporation, a member of the Russian Engineering Union) together with the trade union organization of the enterprise.
Sports events included weight lifting, tug-of-war, and projectile throwing “Puck, puck!”. The fourth and the most spectacular competition this year was a mixed relay, one of the stages of which participants had to run with buckets on a carrying pole.
The winners were determined by the total points scored separately in each of the two groups. The teams of the aircraft engine assembly shop No. 53 and the machine-assembly shop No. 95 received awards for the first place; the second place was taken by the teams of the gas turbine assembly shop No. 51 and the forging and mechanical shop No. 10, and third place was taken by the teams of the foundry shop No. 18 and the testing station.
The theme of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory inspired the teams to creative competitions. In addition to the bright costumed parade, two more contests were held on the glade of the Dynamo ski base: the best anniversary greeting card and the best decoration of the soldier’s bread. The jury agreed with the audience: the teams of the non-ferrous foundry shop No. 12 and the non-standard equipment manufacturing shop No. 71 were named the most creative teams; the second place was taken by the teams of gas turbine assembly shop No. 51 and the chief welder department, and the third place was taken by the team of the suburban testing station and the aircraft and industrial engine repair shop No. 19.
The team of the repair and construction department surprised the guests and participants with an unusual creative solution: their contest card became a popular photo zone, where they recreated a life-size wooden machine gun cart and two machine guns of the wartime, “Maxim Gun” and PPSh. The bread of this team was also unusual: it was baked in the shape of the Hero’s Star.
“It is gratifying that the good factory tradition of the sports festival is becoming more and more popular over the years. The teams of new plant departments join the competition; many winning points are brought to the teams by newcomers, whose lifestyle is the desire to win,” said Yulia Torsunova, the chief judge of the competitions.
However, the veterans of the Perm Engines do not intend to concede to the young workers, remaining the active participants in all sports events. This year, their friendly team took 12th place out of 23 teams in the second group.
Sergey Kharin. Executive Director of UEC-Perm Engines, member of the Regional Council of the Russian Engineering Union, and Svetlana Kamaeva, Chairman of the primary trade union public organization of the Perm Engines, welcomed the participants of the most mass sports festival of the plant, thanked the plant workers for their will to win, and wished them new worthy successes both in sports and in work.
