Photobook of Perm Engine Builders “Victory in details” Released in New Edition

19.11.2025

Companies “UEC-Perm Engines” and “UEC-Aviadvigatel” (a part of Rostec United Engine Corporation, members of Russian Engineering Union (Soyuzmash of Russia)) have released an updated version of the photobook that is dedicated to the labour feat of Perm engine builders during the Great Patriotic War. It commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and includes unique archive materials.

The new version of the photo book “Victory in Details” now includes information on the work of the Experimental Design Bureau OKB-19 during the war. It contains photos from plant archives, restricted wartime documents, issues of the "Stalinets" factory newspaper, and other rare items that make this publication one-of-a-kind.

The book is structured into 13 chapters arranged in chronological order. They reflect the key stages and areas of the enterprises' activities: the plant's and the design bureau's transition to a wartime operational mode, employee training in military affairs, providing for the engine builders' children, organizing meals and healthcare for the workers, the introduction of new technologies, and the construction of new workshops – by 1944, eight new workshops had been built and eighteen had been fully reconstructed.

“The photos and documents in this book are not merely a chronicle of the war years. This is living history, a true account of heroism, a labor feat, and an unbending spirit”, noted Sergey Kharin, Executive Director of “UEC-Perm Motors”.

The plant’s photographer Matvey Kuznetsov is a true photo chronicler of “Perm Engines” who managed to capture the significant events of the companies, new production lines, workshops, equipment, but most importantly – the people who performed their daily labor feat.

“Look closely at the dedication on the faces of workers, designers, and production managers,” emphasized Alexander Inozemtsev, Deputy General Director of JSC “UEC” for management of NPK “Perm Motors”, an Academician of the RAS, and a Hero of Labor of Russia. “They are driven by a common goal – to provide the army with the best engines as soon as possible, and to strengthen the nation's defense. Our predecessors, who performed truly front-line tasks at the machines and drawing tables, look at us from these photographs. For us, these people serve as a model of unity, fortitude, heroism, responsibility and sacrificial love for the Motherland.”

The book was compiled using archive materials from “UEC-Aviadvigatel” and the “UEC-Perm Motors” Museum. It was printed at the “DPS Printing House” in Perm in an edition of 500 copies.
