“UEC-Aviadvigatel” (a part of Rostec United Engine Corporation, member of Russian Engineering Union (Soyuzmash of Russia)) has certified graduates of the Advanced Engineering School “Higher School of Aviation Engine Building”. The certification committee has evaluated the young specialists’ qualification and awarded them an engineering grade.
Eight Master’s graduates who graduated Advanced Engineering School in 2025 and are currently employed at the company were attested. Throughout the previous two years, while pursuing their university studies, these students worked in the design bureau and experimental plant departments. This allowed them to acquire practical skills and receive guidance and support from mentors while preparing their final graduation theses.
The topics of their graduation projects are directly tied to the actual work of the design bureau, with research resulting in tangible products and technologies. This practical focus is why the graduates defend their thesis in the specialized “Technology as a Diploma” format.
“My graduation project was dedicated to the surface quality of the milled attachment part of the blade of the high pressure compressor’s third stage. Research in this area is relevant for the enterprise, as it tackles the task of preserving component quality while scaling up production. In my daily role working with CNC programs, I encounter issues very much like the ones I explored in my study," said process engineer Nikita Lekhanov.
The certification committee reviewed assessments from department heads, who evaluated the young specialists' qualification, professional qualities, and their individual contributions into team projects.
For the most objective assessment possible, all candidates answered a series of questions about their professional expertise, understanding of applicable standards and regulations, and other relevant knowledge.
“My mentor Artem Aglakov’s assessment was objective, I agree with it. Members of the certification committee were genuinely interested in both my studying at the Advanced Engineering School and my current work, as well as my skills and qualifications. Since the session was conducted as a dialogue, answering the questions felt natural. I find such sessions beneficial for getting expert advice and evaluations of one's work,” noted Anton Morozov, an engineer in the Flight Testing and Operations Division.
Following the attesting, a professional grade was awarded to Nikita Plekhanov, Process Engineer at the Computer Aided Production Process Preparation Systems Department, Ayrat Ziyatdinov and Stepan Pepelyaev, Process Engineers at the Chief Metallurgist's Department, Danila Kalashnikov, Design and Calculation Engineer at the Advanced Development Department, and Anton Morozov, Dmitry Rybakov, Egor Goldobin, Ekaterina Sucheninova, Engineers at the Flight Testing and Operations Department.
“We are now welcoming the second group of graduates from the Advanced Engineering School. They are extremely driven and have blended into our team perfectly. We are confident that having these Advanced School’s talents with us will enable us to solve more design and manufacturing problems using innovative approaches that combine research and production,” stated Takhir Khairulin, First Deputy Managing Director-General Designer, Head of the Design Bureau.
The cooperation between the industrial partner, Research and Production Complex “Perm Motors”, and the Advanced Engineering School “Higher School of Aviation Engine Building” continues. The plans for the upcoming Master's degree enrollment are set, programs and syllabi are being refined, and new thesis topics are in development.
