Fifteen students from Moscow have begun a cross-regional summer internship at UEC-Perm Engines (part of Rostec United Engine Corporation, members of Russian Engineering Union (Soyuzmash of Russia)). The placement is part of the Wings of Rostec educational and professional program, where future engineers will train as calculation engineers and gain hands-on experience in aircraft engine testing.
Six contract students of the experimental design bureau named after A.M. Lyulka and nine of the UEC-Salut are pursuing degrees in Aircraft and Rocket Engine Design at Bauman Moscow State Technical University. In June 2026 they started their summer internships at UEC-Perm Engines.
From the very first day, the students actively participated in the enterprise’s work. They toured the assembly shop, witnessing firsthand how serial PS-90A and PD-14 aircraft engines are manufactured and tested.

That kind of commitment commands the deepest respect,” said Nikita Besedin, a contract student from the A.M. Lyulka Design Bureau.
The future engineers were welcomed and introduced to engine production by Nikolay Andreev, Deputy Chairman of the Perm Regional Branch of the Russian Engineering Union, and Mikhail Voroshilov, HR Director of UEC-Perm Engines. Dmitry Bakhmatov, Deputy Chief Process Engineer for Assembly and Testing, walked them through the technical specifications and operational features of gas turbine engines. Anatoly Medyantsev, Deputy Production Director for Assembly and Testing, shared the history of the out-of-town test facility and explained how aircraft engine testing is carried out.
Alexandra Dolgopolova, a design engineer from UEC-Salut, was deeply impressed by the out-of-town test facility at Perm Engines. She is delighted to be learning how to test modern engines right here, seeing the new experience as a major leap forward in her career.
Over the course of the internship, the students will master the skills of a computational engineer, learning how to plan and carry out tests on a fully assembled engine. Beyond hands-on practice, the program includes an onboarding workshop and exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies on the shop floor. The agenda also features a visit to the “Weapons of Victory” exhibition, tours of the design bureau at UEC-Aviadvigatel, and trips to the corporate museums of UEC's Perm-based operations.
Wings of Rostec is an educational program run by Rostec State Corporation, designed to nurture a new generation of engineers for the Russian aerospace industry. The program is delivered across 15 universities in St. Petersburg, Rybinsk, Kazan, Samara, Ufa, Perm, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Ulyanovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Nizhny Novgorod, and Omsk, building a talent pipeline for the nation's aviation sector. Alongside a rigorous academic grounding, students gain real-world experience at industrial facilities and have the chance to explore multiple career paths within their future field.
