The Aerospace Faculty at Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) has completed enrollment under the employer-sponsored program of UEC-Aviadvigatel and UEC-Perm Engines (part of Rostec United Engine Corporation, members of Russian Engineering Union (Soyuzmash of Russia)). A total of 58 students have signed sponsored education contracts with the companies.
Twenty-seven applicants were admitted to the Aircraft and Rocket Engine Design program under sponsorship from UEC-Aviadvigatel, with an average score of 227 across three Unified State Exam subjects. They demonstrated strong knowledge of physics, mathematics, and Russian. UEC-Perm Engines sponsored five students, whose average score was 191.
Among the first-year students in the Aircraft Engines department is Ekaterina Zonova, who scored a perfect 100 on the physics exam. She has already visited UEC-Aviadvigatel on an introductory tour and is eager to begin her studies and on-the-job training.
“I think it will be challenging, but also incredibly interesting. Once I graduate, I plan to work at the Perm design bureau. I want to test engines. It's a really important job,” said Ekaterina Zonova.
Another 26 students were admitted to programs in Software Engineering, Automated control of technological processes, Materials Science and Engineering, Computer Science, and Design and technology of machinery production. Notably, the latter program will be pursued by UEC-Perm Engines-sponsored students in both full-time and part-time formats.
Representatives of the employing companies welcomed the freshmen at the enrollment ceremony. Elena Mayasina, Head of HR, Marina Kazakova, Head of the Young Professionals Bureau at UEC-Aviadvigatel, and Ekaterina Lapina, Lead Specialist at UEC-Perm Engines' Training Center, congratulated the students on their successful admission, presented corporate gifts, and wished them excellent academic performance.
“Your group is interesting and bright, with excellent exam scores. I'm confident that in five and a half years you'll be standing on this very stage again, receiving your honors degrees. And we'll be waiting for you to join us for internships and full-time positions,” Elena Mayasina told the new students.
From day one at the university, these students are oriented toward the real-world challenges of the design bureau and the serial production plant. During their first semester, sponsored students will receive a corporate scholarship, with the amount tied to their total exam scores. Going forward, the scholarship will be awarded to those who pass their exams with good and excellent grades. Upon graduation, every student is guaranteed employment according to their field of study.
Among the contract students are also children of employees of the Perm-based enterprises. Vladimir Grinev will study Aircraft and Rocket Engine Design with the goal of joining UEC-Aviadvigatel and carrying on his parents' legacy.
“What appeals to me about the design bureau is that it's all about complex intellectual work. It's a stable enterprise with products that will always be in demand. I know it won't be easy, but I'll do my best not to let down either my parents or UEC-Aviadvigatel, with whom I've signed my contract,” said Vladimir Grinev.
More meetings with their future employers lie ahead, and the students will have plenty of chances to confirm they made the right choice. Studying under the sponsorship of UEC-Aviadvigatel and UEC-Perm Engines opens up great opportunities for professional growth and involvement in projects of national importance.
