The drawings of the new engine D-30KP for military-transport aircraft Il-76 were completed by the end of the 60s. In 1971, the four D-30KP – powered Il-76MD with propulsion unit successfully passed state tests, was demonstrated to the country’s leaders and, afterwards, was presented in the Paris Air Show (in Les Bourget). In 1974, the engine was put into service to power military-transport aircraft Il-76 and its numerous modifications.
