In a post-war period, the Ash-73TK with two-stage supercharge was the most powerful engine in the world. It passed state tests in 1948.

Up to 1953, the Ash-73TK was produced at the Perm Plant (in total, 6831 pcs. were produced together with the Ash-73), up to 1957 — at the Rybinsk Motor Plant (1968 pcs. produced).

• The design of the Ash-73TK included electronic schemes – vacuum tube amplifiers U-2, that were used in the supercharge control system RTK-46.
• The engine was equipped with balancers and counter-balancers to reduce vibrations and eliminate torsion motions. In order for the altitude to be increased, two-stage supercharge system was installed. First-stage supercharge was exhaust energy-powered gas generator TK-19.
