Bypass turbofan engine with cooled blades of the turbine 1st stage

The D-30 two-shaft bypass turbofan engine, designed for the short-range passenger airplane Tu-134, was developed in 1964. The technical specifications of the D-30 and its efficiency parameters were similar (in some cases even better) to those of the best western engines of that class. Created in a very short period of time (about 3 years), the D-30 became most reliable ever in the domestic engine building industry.

The D-30 development was recognized with the USSR State Prize.

D-30-10V and D-30V-12 - engines for the M-55 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft.

D-30V - turboshaft for the V-12M helicopter project.

D-30KP - an engine with a reverser for aircraft of the Il-76 family and its modifications A-50 and Il-78. It has nothing in common with the D-30 engines for Tu-134 aircraft.

D-30KP-3 "Burlak" - a turbofan engine deeply modernized in the 2000s at NPO Saturn. It features a new fan, a bypass ratio increased by more than 1.5 times, thrust increased by 1 ton, fuel consumption is reduced by 11%. Complies with ICAO Chapter 4 noise and emission standards.

D-30KPV - engine for the A-40 Albatross.

D-30KU - engine with a thrust of 11500 kgf. Installed on Tu-154M and Il-62M. The Tu-134 has nothing in common with the D-30 engines. D-30KU-154 - engine for the Tu-154M. Increased resource by reducing thrust to 11,000 kgf. In 2003, a low-emission combustion chamber was developed to reduce noise levels. In the

D-30KU-154 engine of the 3rd series, the resource is increased by 800 hours, due to a decrease in temperature by 20 K than in the D-30KU-154 of the 2nd series, the warranty overhaul life is 3000 hours (1386 cycles), the assigned resource is 15000 hours (7000 cycles) .

The program of the D-30 engine development was very successful:

• the total number of the 1st, 2nd and 3d series D-30 engines produced - 3490;
• total engine operating time - more than 28,5mio hours (2002);
• the highest level of reliability (1999);
• the number of passengers – 500mio (1991);
• the assigned lifetime of the D-30 - 21 000hr;
• the D-30 served as a prototype for the design of the gas-turbine units GTU-2,5P and GTU-4P with the power of 2,5 and 4,0 MW for the power grid complex of the RF (operating time – over 100 000hr)
