In April 2021, UEC-Aviadvigatel took part in Perm Engineering & Industry Forum – a major event in the industry – not only for Perm region but for Volga federal district on the whole.
The Forum hosted the Industrial Expo which presented the most interesting achievements and projects of Perm region enterprises. The key exhibit was one of the latest developments of UEC-Aviadvigatel – PD-14GP-1/-2 industrial gas turbine engine. The full-size engine mockup was displayed at the Forum.
PD-14GP-1/-2 engine is developed on order of PAO Gazprom based on the core of the latest aircraft engine PD-14 and will be used in gas compressor packages for gas transportation and in gas turbine power generation plants. The key advantages of the new engine: fuel efficiency improved by 6…8%, NOx emission below 50 mg/m3, service life – 200 thousand hours. Use of efficient design solutions and a low emission combustor ensures compliance of the new product of Perm design bureau with Russian and international environmental standards.
The specialists of UEC-Aviadvigatel took part in the business program of the Forum. Maksim Snitko, Deputy General Designer – Chief Designer of Gas Turbines for Gas Compressor Packages, delivered a report “Advanced engines for 12 and 16 MW GTU-12PD and GTU-16PD gas turbines on the basis of PD-14 aircraft engine core” at the strategic session “Development of industrial cooperation of UEC-Perm Motors”. He said that by 2030 more than two hundred engines of this type will be made in Perm. “Because of such substantial production output today we have to look for partners among small and medium-sized businesses which are ready to invest in hi-tech products, – said Maksim Snitko. – Besides, we are planning to develop cooperation with Perm national research universities: today we efficiently work closely with Perm scientific & research polytechnic university, and very soon we are going to involve the scientists of Perm classic university”.
“PD-35 Engine” project was covered at the kick-off session “Science. Industry. Technologies. Technological transformation of industry in the light of global cooperation” in the speech of Alexander Inozemtsev, Deputy General Director of UEC for Management of Perm Motors Scientific & Industrial Complex, Managing Director – General Designer of UEC-Aviadvigatel. According to A. Inozemtsev, development of PD-35 engine for long-haul aviation is a technological pinnacle of engineering, combination of the most sophisticated state-of-the-art technologies. “It’s a very long list of them – the whole country is working for this project, – emphasized Alexander Inozemtsev. – We must justify the confidence of the President of the RF and develop a family of gas turbine engines for aviation and fuel & power generation industry of our country based on PD-35”.
An official award ceremony was held during the Forum where UEC-Aviadvigatel specialists received national awards. Alexander Inozemtsev was awarded the Certificate of Honor of Perm region for significant contribution into development of Perm region industry and efficient long service. By the Decree of the President of Russia, for major contribution into development of new and special equipment, strengthening the defense capability of the country and efficient long service, the Medal of the Order of Merit for Country of the II Degree was awarded to Ivan Lopatkin, Deputy Head of Assembly Floor – Aviation Engines, and Alexander Pozharinskiy, Head of Thermodynamic Analysis and Configuration Evaluation Department. the Certificate of Honor of the President of Russia was awarded to Ivan Pavletsov, Deputy Chief Designer – Head of PD Engines Division. The Letter of Acknowledgement of the President of Russia was presented to Victor Balandin, Head of Certification and QA Department, and Serguei Toropchin, Head of Advanced Developments Division.
While presenting the awards, Dmitriy Makhonin, the Governor of Perm region, said: “We have to be proud that Perm has become the site where a unique PD-14 engine has been developed. It will be in demand not only in aviation but in oil & gas industry as well. I’m pleased to present these well-deserved awards to the people who have made a great contribution into development of hi-tech equipment and Perm region industry”.
