Engine with DLE combustor system passed testing

Acceptance tests of the PS-90GP-2M engine with a Dry Low-Emission (DLE) combustor designed and manufactured by UEC-Aviadvigatel and UEC-PM (members of the Rostec United Engine Corporation) united into Perm Engines Research and Production Complex, were completed at KS-19 Tchaikovsky compressor station of OOO Gazprom Transgaz Tchaikovsky.

The test purpose was to ensure that the DLE engine parameters comply with the requirements of the technical specifications.

The acceptance committee was headed by A. Dubonosov, Deputy Head of Department 308 at PJSC Gazprom. A. Kocharyan, Deputy Director General for CS Operation at Gazprom transgaz Tchaikovsky, M. Snitko, Deputy General Designer - Chief Designer of Gas Turbine Drives for Gas Compressor Packages at UEC-Aviadvigatel, representatives of Gazprom VNIIGAZ, UEC, specialists of Perm Design Bureau were on the committee.

The acceptance test results has shown as follows:

Thermal and technical characteristics: power capacity, efficiency, turbine inlet gas temperature, nominal rotor speed of DLE PS-90GP-2M engine comply with specifications;
Environmental characteristics at 70-100% rated power: reduced NOx and CO concentrations comply with the requirements of specifications (NOx ≤ 50 mg/m3, CO ≤ 100 mg/m3).

Test results were evidenced by the Gazprom VNIIGAZ decision.

The work resulted in signing the Acceptance Certificate of test completion, in which the acceptance committee recommended to mark the design documentation with O1 for the DLE PS-90GP-2M, and to commercialize the DLE GTU-16PM integrated into compressor packages and turbine generating set.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The specialists of Perm Engines Research and Production Complex have created the first Russian natural gas fired 16 MW gas turbine unit with DLE combustor system.

The DLE technology utilizes a principle of dry reduction of NOx emission in combustion system, the DLE combustor has optimized flame tube head for better treatment of the air-fuel mixture, avoiding a flash-back to the mixing zone of the flame tube head, as well as ensuring a thermal state of the combustor components, multiple-manifold fuel supply to the combustor has been implemented, as well as additive manufacturing, super heat-resistant powders, intrawall cooling of parts. Some of the mentioned solutions have not yet been used in either aviation or industrial engine building in Russia.

The DLE equipment significantly improves environmental performance of customers' business, i.e. it reduces emissions of hazardous substances, risk of pulmonology and cardiovascular diseases, and as well reduces significantly the sanitary protection area around the site.
