UEC-Perm Engines implements a new format for adapting young workers and specialists

08.02.2023

At the end of January 2023, the training center of UEC-Perm Engines (part of the Rostec United Engine Corporation) hosted the first three-day training seminar for the participants of the target recruitment program – 25 young workers, young specialists and final-year students of vocational educational institution.

The purpose of the training seminar is to help young engine builders to quickly adapt to production process, create a positive motivation to work, develop a sense of responsibility and acquire teamwork skills.

Specially established training program for young people “Target student – you are in a team” included a minimum of theory and a maximum of practical skills in the format of an associative and business role-playing game

On the first day, participants learned the rules of effective communication and solidified the gained knowledge with the exercises to identify and develop leadership skills. On the second day, young people were told about the corporate youth policy and were introduced to the status of a young worker and a young specialist, including the features of work organization, material encouragement and social safety nets. An associative game helped them get acquainted with the company’s products.

The third day of classes was the most eventful: business trainer Alexander Domanov held a business role-playing game “My Enterprise”. The young people were divided into three groups, each of which was given the task of designing a paper airplane and organizing its large-scale production. According to Alexander, this game teaches everyone to understand the responsibility for their site, explains the essence of production cooperation and clearly shows that a successful result is only possible with effective teamwork.

Kristina Solovyova, a non-destructive inspector of aeronautical equipment, had dreamed of working at the enterprise since the day she entered Perm Aviation Secondary Technical School named after A.Shvetsov. Having signed a target education contract with the company, the girl got a job as an assembly fitter and has been working in the engine repair shop for six months since her graduation. “This is an unusual format of training – the game shows what skills you lack, broadens your horizons, and introduces you to your colleagues”. Kristina said.

Artem Chuvyzgalov, still a fourth-year student at the Perm College of Industrial and Information Technologies named after B.G. Izgagin, is an apprentice to the machine and program-controlled manipulator setup man and serves experienced mentor, Pavel Kiryanov’s apprenticeship.

The exams and final research paper defense will not be until this summer, and thanks to the target recruitment program, Artem has already become well acquainted with both production process and his colleagues. “There are a lot of youth-orientated and social safety net programs at the large enterprise. At the training, we were told in detail about what opportunities the enterprise gives to young workers and how you can fulfill yourself here,” Artem shared his opinion.

“At UEC-Perm Engines, great attention is paid to building a team capable of solving the most complex production tasks. Part of this work is annual professional skills competition, training courses and sports competitions. We give students of higher and secondary vocational education institutions an opportunity to sign a target education program in engineering or aviation specialties and on working professions, to undergo on-the-job training at the production facilities, and after graduation to join the best engine builders in the country,” noted Tatiana Snitko, Acting HR Director at UEC-Perm Engines.
