Aleksandr Inozemtsev Awarded the Title Hero of Labour by the Presidential Decree

On 1st of May, 2023 by the RF Presidential Decree, the title Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation was awarded to Aleksandr A. Inozemtsev, Deputy General Director of UEC for Perm Engines Research & Production Complex Management, Managing Director – General Designer of UEC-Aviadvigatel (part of the Rostec United Engine Corporation), for special services to the State and the people.

Aleksandr Inozemtsev was born on April 9, 1951 in Kamyshin, the Volgograd Region. In 1973 he graduated with honors from the Perm Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Aircraft Engines. Since 1973, he has been working in Motor-Building Design Bureau (presently JSC “UEC-Aviadvigatel”).

1983 – Chief Designer – Senior Deputy Head of Motor-Building Design Bureau (by order of the USSR Minister of Aviation Industry).

1997 – General Designer of JSC “UEC-Aviadvigatel”.

2001 – General Director – General Designer of “UEC-Aviadvigatel”.

Mr. Inozemtsev was directly involved in the engineering and development of the 3rd Series D-30, D-30KU, D-30KP, D-30KU-154. As a Chief Designer, he supervised the PS-90A engine assembly, testing, and development activities.

Under his leadership, PS-90A derivative models, such as PS-90A1, PS-90A2, PS-90A3, PS90A-76 have been designed and certified; efforts on further development of ground gas turbine units has been taken; two families of gas turbine units for gas compressor and power generating power plants rated at 2.5 to 25 MW.

Under the guidance of Mr. Inozemtsev, in broad cooperation with leading aviation industry enterprises, a breakthrough project on the national scale, a new-generation PD-14 turbojet engine for short/medium haul MS-21 aircraft, has been implemented. Entirely domestic baseline PD-14 engine was certified by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) in 2018, and in December 2020 it made its first flight on the wing of MS-21-310.

Further activities under unique project of the Russian engine industry, a high-thrust PD-35, are carried out. Its creation will enable implementing the ambitious aircraft engineering projects of our country.

Aleksandr Inozemtsev is a Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Head of the Aircraft Engines Department at Perm National Research Polytechnic University, Head of the Perm Scientific and Engineering School of Gas Turbine Engine Engineering, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He has 135 scientific publications, including 2 monographs, 9 textbooks and manuals, 3 authorship certificates and 71 patents for inventions.

Among other achievements are:

  • Winner of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology in 2000;
  • Winner of the 2006 Kosygin Prize;
  • Laureate of the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology in 2013;
  • Laureate of the 2013 Perm Krai Prize in Science;
  • Winner of the A.N. Tupolev International Prize in 2017;
  • Awarded the Medal “For Valorous Labor” of the Russian Engineering Union;
  • Honorary citizen of the city of Perm;
  • Awarded the second-class Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland, the Order of Honor, the badge “Excellent Air Transport Specialist”, the badge "Honorary Aircraft Builder", the memorable badge "Emblem of the Perm Territory";
  • state and departmental certificates and letters of acknowledgement.
