UEC-Perm Engines has supplied gas turbines for Zapolyarnoe field

30.06.2023

UEC-Perm Engines (part of Rostec’s United Engine Corporation) completed dispatch of four sets of GTU-16P gas turbine for the second phase of the boost compressor station that is part of UKPG-2S gas treatment plant at Zapolyarnoe oil and gas condensate field of Gazprom dobytcha Yamburg Ltd.

Zapolyarnoe oil and gas condensate field is one of the largest by the amount of reserves and the largest by gas extraction in Russia. While developing this filed, Gazprom used advanced technical solutions and the latest equipment meant for operation in severe environmental and climatic conditions. Including the newly shipped equipment, the fleet of GTU-16P at the field will be as large as 28 units.

GTU-16P gas turbines are used within the new generation gas compressor packages and  for existing gas pumping equipment retrofit. The engineering solutions ensure the target  performance: PT power – 16.5 MW, efficiency – 37%, PT speed – 5300 rpm, MTBO – 30 thousand hours, total assigned life – 100 thousand hours. As the gas turbines are supplied preassembled and ready-to-operate, their putting into service is fast and cost-effective.

“Perm gas turbines support operation of Gazprom’s gas production and gas transportation enterprises. 16 MW machines have shown an excellent performance at boost and line compressor stations of Russia owing to their high durability and reliability”, - said Maksim Snitko, Director of Mechanical Drive Gas Turbines Program of UEC-Perm Engines.

GTU-16P was developed by UEC-Aviadvigatel on the basis of the core of PS-90A aero engine used at domestic passenger aircraft such as IL-96, Tu-204, Tu-214. Produced in series by UEC-Perm Engines since 1999. As of 1 June 2023, 404 gas turbines rated at 16 MW have been delivered to customers, with their total operating time being 13 million hours.
