The team of JSC “UEC-Perm Engines” (a part of Rostec United Engine Corporation) in the Third Summer Spartakiade of Workers of Perm Krai won first place in the group of enterprises with more than 2,000 employees, and second place in the team classification.
Engine manufacturers demonstrated their best results in chess (I place), men’s volleyball, all-round TPR, relay race and tug-of-war (II place), streetball and swimming (III place).
More than 1,800 people from 41 teams took part in the competition, competing in 14 athletic disciplines: basketball, volleyball, track and field, soccer, ping-pong, swimming, rifle and pistol shooting, chess etc. For the first time ever, the UEC-Perm Engines team won the first team place in the Summer Spartakiade; along with the engine manufacturers, athletes from 24 large industrial enterprises of Perm Krai competed for victory in this group.
Yury Lyalin, worker at stamping shop #17, won gold medals for our team in the chess competition. Candidate master of sports played nine games without a single loss, and won six games. Yury has been fond of chess since the fourth grade of secondary school, that is more than forty years. He learned to play chess on his own using magazines he used to buy at news stalls. For several years running, he was a chess champion of the town of Lysva. After moving to Perm, he has been competing on our team for twelve years.
Maria Chazova, dispatcher at forging and mechanical shop #10, mother of four children, has been winning medals in swimming competitions for many years. “I got a job at the plant in 2012 and on the first day after my shift, colleagues offered me to run a factory relay race. I agreed and since then I have been happily participating in all factory competitions. Sport is an integral part of my life; from a young age, I have been swimming, skiing and doing track and field. And my children are a huge source of energy for my victories”, shared Maria.
“At the Spartakiade, engine manufacturers gave an excellent example of team work efficiency and beauty of uncompromising sports competition. Largely thanks to such competitions, people start to do sport, choose an active, healthy life for themselves and their children. And this is more important than any medals”, said Stella Emir-Veli, Head of the Corporate Culture and Youth Policy Department of UEC-Perm Engines.
