“UEC-Aviadvigatel” JSC (part of the Rostec United Engine Corporation) has participated in the scientific forum on “Education, science and production in digital engineering and materials science – 2023”. The seventh forum was held at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU).
The official opening of the forum was attended by Takhir Khairulin, Senior Deputy Managing Director – General Designer, Head of Development Design Bureau. He has made a presentation to the audience on the Challenges of Perm Aircraft Engine Designing.
Perm Engine Research & Production Complex enterprises implement programs to create new generation PD-14, PD-35 and PD-8 engines for civil and transport Russian aviation, as well as industrial gas turbine units derived from common core engines of the above engines. Creation of advanced products is impossible without mastering key technologies, developing new materials and solving personnel issues.
“The cooperation between UEC-Aviadvigatel and PNRPU has been going on for more than 60 years. Perm Technical University may be called our strategic partner both in training personnel for the Design Bureau, and in research and development activities,” says Mr. Khairulin. “Over the years of PD-14 designing our relations has reached a higher level”.
Within the framework of the PD-14 project, the enterprise and the university carry out research, development and technological activities in five directions, they created the Center of Acoustic Studies and Research and Educational Center of Aviation Composite Technologies, Dynamic Strength Laboratories, process engineering support, high-cycle fatigue studies. Teachers and students are actively engaged on this project by an order of the company, making a significant contribution to the common cause.
“The PD-14 engine is certified, and today it takes to the sky MS-21-310, but it's not done yet – the young engine needs to be "trained" for life in the sky. Next, PD-135 has already been created, and a technology demonstrator is about to come in. PD-8 project is in progress. All this requires young energy, sound knowledge, desire to create new engines, to ensure the future of our aviation and industry”, points out Mr. Khairulin. “An alliance of education, science and manufacturing is the key to a successful development of our region and country. We keep working in this direction and master new forms of cooperation with industrial enterprises, academic science, and various educational institutions.” – he adds.
It should be noted, that within the framework of the forum the representatives of HR departments of the Perm enterprises, including Perm Engine Research & Production Complex, attended the Perm Tech University event. To prove the fact that the university & enterprise cluster is not just fine words, but a positive practice, the students got information from HR-specialists about an employer-sponsored education, on-the-job internship and further employment assistance at the company.
