Roman Petryakov, a sixth-grade grinder at the mechanical shop No. 38 of UEC-Perm Engines (part of Rostec United Engine Corporation), was named the record holder of the year according to the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society "Labor Reserves".
The worker received this high rank for his record in the 1,500-meter race at the Sochi Summer Corporate Games. Roman's result was 4 minutes and 4 seconds. This time is only 29 worse than the Russian record set in 2019 by track and field athlete Vladimir Nikitin.
Roman Petryakov has been competing in track and field athletics, speed skiing, orienteering and cyclocross for seventeen years as a member of UEC-Perm Engines teams. The 41-year-old athlete has won more than a hundred medals; he has been playing for the honor of the plant for more than seventeen years. Last year, Roman won the Russian Cup at the competitions in Izhevsk in a new sport for himself – darts.
"Organization and holding of factory competitions, as well as participation in sports events of regional and federal levels, are one of the important areas of the enterprise social policy. In 2023, more than 30 cultural and sports events were held, in which more than 6,000 engine manufacturers took part. More than 20 events were organized for young employees, which brought together more than 3,000 people. Today, UEC-Perm Engines gives a successful start not only to professional, but also to creative and sporting careers," said Tatyana Snitko, ad interim HR Director at JSC “UEC-Perm Engines”.
Stella Emir-Veli, Head of the Corporate Culture and Youth Policy Department of UEC-Perm Engines, awarded Roman Petryakov a diploma of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society “Labor Reserves” for outstanding achievements in athletics.
We would like to add that Roman Petryakov was also named the best athlete of the first group in the individual competition of the 67th annual Perm Engines Factory Spartakiade held last year.
