15.02.2024

Veterans of UEC-Perm Engines (part of Rostec United Engine Corporation) held a traditional annual meeting with first-year students of the Perm Technical School of Industrial Technologies named after B.G. Izgagin.

This year, the meeting with young people was timed to coincide with the 105th anniversary of Boris Izgagin, Director of the Perm Engine Plant. Rashid Dzunza, Chairman of the city public organization "Veterans of Perm Engines", Nikolay Naidenov, Deputy Chairman, and Georgy Izgagin, former Chief Welder of the plant, spoke to the future engine manufacturers.

The majority of Perm Technical School of Industrial Technologies graduates will start their career at UEC-Perm Engines. The history of the plant, the engines it produces and the future of the enterprise were important topics of the meeting. The latter aroused the greatest interest among the young people.

At the meeting, the students asked the veterans many questions. They include: how did the plant manage to maintain its production capacity when the number of orders decreased and manufacturing volumes fell? The veterans answered that for many years the plant has been producing not only aircraft engines, but also gas turbine sets for the fuel and energy companies of Russia. Thanks to this, the plant managed to preserve its workers, competencies and production capacities in challenging times.

"During the Great Patriotic War, teenagers came to work at the plant. They replaced the workers who went to the war at the machines and helped to produce numerous aircraft engines. That is why the image of the young worker Valya Kusakin became a symbol of the stele "Perm is the City of Labor Valor". Now this historical fact plays an important role in educational work with young people," said Nikolay Naidenov, Deputy Chairman of the city public organization "Veterans of Perm Engines".

Georgy Izgagin, the son of the famous plant director, recalled important facts of his father biography and noted that the people who became the legend of “Perm Engines” devoted their whole life to production and always strived to be the best in their work.

“Young people learn from the experience of the adult generation, so it is important for us to convey the history of the enterprise development through the fates of people who were creating the plant for many years. Life of Boris Izgagin is a good example. Through his own efforts, determination and hard work, he built a successful career in engine manufacturing. His inspiring experience is a good motivation for young people,” noted Rashid Dzunza, Chairman of the city public organization "Veterans of Perm Engines".
