Personal Commitment is a Key to Effective Change in Production

UEC-Perm Engines (a part of Rostec’s United Engine Corporation) has rewarded employees and managers for making proposals to improve the company's operations, as well as for their significant contribution to the production system development.

In 2023, 6,665 suggestions for improvement were received from UEC-Perm Engine’s employees. The factory appreciates such initiatives, and under present economic conditions, the enterprise implements improvements gradually, step by step. Sometimes they may be insignificant, but as a whole, they always result in a company performance improvement.

For the deep involvement in the production system development, UEC-Perm Engines has awarded Certificates of Appreciation to Pavel Maltsev, Lead Technical Specialist of the Industrial Gas Turbine Assembly Shop, Evgeny Ovechkin, Senior Foreman of the Non-Ferrous Casting Shop Production Floor, and Aleksandr Kornienko, Foreman of the Production Floor of the same shop.

For an involvement of employees into the company’s activity improvement, UEC-Perm Engines, has awarded Certificates of Appreciation to Anastasia Bushueva, Lead Specialist of the Experimental Metallurgical Shop, Grigory Anukhov, Test Station Lead Specialist, Irina Lobanova, Head of Payroll of the Mechanical Assembly Shop, as well as the Heads of these divisions – Ilya Romanov, Deputy Chief Metallurgist, Head of Experimental Metallurgical Shop, Anatoly Khafisov, Head of Test Station, Aleksandr Gorbunov, Head of Assembly Shop .

According to Egor Kerov, Project Manager of Production System Development Group, significant development results will only be achieved if the maximum number of employees are involved in the improvement process.

“The most effective improvements are proposed by employees who are good at a specific production scope and can put forward potentially correct solutions to important issues. By participating in a process of continuous improvement of the production system, you can get on with your job with ease, and make your production processes more efficient”, says Egor Kerov.

Pavel Maltsev, Lead Technical Specialist of the Industrial Gas Turbine Assembly Shop has been participating in the improvement program for four years. About 80 percent of his suggestions have been implemented in the shop.

“Being involved into a continuous improvement process is an opportunity to optimize working conditions as well as to reduce the time spent on work. The results of the subsequent changes have a tangible impact on the production tasks”, he explains.

In addition to ideas for improvement, Perm engine manufacturers also bring forward proposals for labor-saving innovations. Following the results of 2023, the greatest economic effect was brought by a joint initiative of Andrey Konnov, Lead Specialist of Serial Design Department, and Viacheslav Sergeev, Deputy Head of this department. The engineers proposed to optimize the time of bench testing at the country test station of the PS-90A and its modifications by eliminating duplicate test stages without compromising all the required parameters check.

“Every employee in the company can contribute to the company's performance improvement. New ideas lead to real changes and sometimes become the basis for new large-scale projects. And the last, but not least, is a fact that the factory employees get recognition and deserved remuneration for their work, so, in 2023, their authors were paid more than two million rubles for submitted proposals, and the economic effect from the implementation of these proposals amounted to 27 million rubles”, says Andrey Ushakov, Director of Production System Development of UEC-Perm Engines.
