UEC-Perm Engines team became the leader of the semifinal of the Cyberdrome.2024 competition

26.04.2024

The Avia-PM team, which included employees of UEC-Perm Engines (part of Rostec United Engine Corporation), became the leader of the semifinal of VI All-Russian Cyberdrome.2024 competition. The participants successfully coped with the challenges and scored a maximum of 375 points.

Forty-three teams from all over Russia competed for access to the grand finale, performing tasks remotely at a testing ground in Moscow. Participants from their cities operated ground-based radio-technical equipment (RTE) and drones – unmanned aircraft system (UAS). For this purpose, they wrote program code for operation of UAS and RTE in Python in advance and tested it in a simulator.

In the “Air Patrol” challenge, the participants had to program two drones to detect fire locations that were simulated by heating elements. At the same time, two machines were used for the fire extinction. The assessment criterion was the number of detected and extinguished fires.

In the “Logistics” challenge, the participants had to program four drones to fly autonomously, pick up cargo at four sorting points and deliver it to four different locations. Then, they had to program two RTEs to transport cargo from logistic centers to stores and return it to the starting point. Here, the number of delivered cargoes was assessed.

According to the results of the first challenge, the Avia-PM team scored 125 points, the second challenge – 250 points. These points immediately put the Perm team in the lead of the semi-final.

“To perform the tasks of the competition, it is necessary to create complete design and engineering solutions in the competition mode. And the Avia-PM team successfully coped with all the challenges. Ten strongest teams of the country will compete in the upcoming grand finale. Each member of our team has already gained invaluable skills and made confident steps in mastering one of the most promising technologies of the century,” said Egor Kerov, the coach of the Avia-PM team and the manager of the Production System Development Group at UEC-Perm Engines.

This is the fourth time the enterprise's team has participated in Cyberdrome. According to the requirements of the competition, each year the composition of the participants must change completely. This year, the Avia-PM team included design engineer Dmitry Basanov, software engineer Alexey Samoilenko, teacher Georgy Golovanov, as well as Elena Afanasyeva, a student of the Polytechnic School of the Perm National Research Polytechnic University, Kirill Hakimov, a student of the Mastergrad school, and students of the Perm Aviation Technical School named after A. D. Shvetsov, Andrey Pronko, Danil Kukarin, and Yuri Nikolaev.
